Make Every Firefly Session Count
Better sessions. Every time.
Tips to get the most out of your Firefly, from setup to recovery.
New to Firefly? Review our Instructions For Use (IFU) for full application steps, warnings and safety information before your first session.
Placement Is Key
Right spot, right flutter.
Placement makes the biggest difference in your session. If you're not feeling or seeing a flutter, the fix is usually a small adjustment, not a higher level.
⦿ Trace up the outside of your leg, from your ankle bone toward your knee.
⦿ Stop at the small, round bony bump just below and to the outside of your knee. That’s the fibular head.
⦿ Line up the dotted marker directly over it, on the outer side of your leg (not the front or back of the knee).
⦿ Keep the + and – buttons facing outward, with the longer blue side wrapping toward the back of your leg.
⦿ Make small adjustments up or down until you find your flutter.
Tip: Always turn Firefly off before repositioning so you don’t feel the stimulation in your fingers.
Try It Bent
Sit first, then find your spot.
It’s easier to feel the stimulation with your knee bent, so start there while you find your placement.
- Start with clean, dry skin, free of lotion or oil.
- Sit in a chair with your knee bent at 90 degrees and your feet flat on the floor.
- Once you’ve found your flutter, you can straighten your leg. If the flutter feels weaker, go up one level.
Know Your Level
7 levels. One flutter.
Turn on: Hold + for 1 second.
Turn off: Hold – for 3 seconds.
Find your level: Start at level 1 and go up slowly. Some people need level 5, 6 or 7 to feel the flutter.
Not sure which level you're on? Count the green flashes in each repeating sequence, the number of flashes matches your current level.

Find Your Flutter
Gentle is the goal.
Go up one level at a time until you see a light, rhythmic movement in your foot (a gentle outward motion of the foot). That’s the Firefly flutter.
You’re not looking for a big kick. The best setting is the lowest level that gives you a flutter because higher isn’t better.
What are you seeing?
Pick an option
Check your placement first, with your knee bent. Then go up one level at a time.
That’s more than you need. Turn it down by pressing the (-) button until it’s a gentle, comfortable twitch. If you feel a sharp or stinging sensation, the level is too high or the placement is wrong.
Once you locate the fibular head, mark the spot with a skin-safe marker and place Firefly there. It also helps to have someone find the bone with you the first time. You can also watch the placement video or check the IFU for alternate positions.
The Gel's Job
It's not there to stick. It's there to conduct.
Firefly’s hydrogel creates the skin contact that delivers stimulation. Grip is secondary, and the gel will naturally lose some tack with use. That’s what the Accessory Strap is for.
Between sessions: Put Firefly back on its original white paper backing right away.
Gel drying out? Give it a light spritz of water from a spray bottle. A little goes a long way. Never run the device under the tap or submerge it.
Strap It In
Keep your device secure.
Once you’ve found your placement, the Accessory Strap keeps Firefly in place, especially when you’re moving around, traveling or wearing it for longer sessions.
Protect it between sessions
Cool, dry, and out of the sun.
Store your Firefly devices away from heat and direct sunlight, and never leave them in a hot car. Keep everything in the Carrying Case so your devices, straps and backings stay together.
